Pakistan's Tennis-star Aisam in
quarter finals in Spain VALLADOLID (Spain): Pakistan's top tennis player Aisam ul Haq had to go through a roller coaster of ups and downs while defeating his German opponent Frank Moser in the pre-quarter final of ATP Challenger Tennis Championship in Valladolid, Spain. Aisam won the first set 6-3 and went down in the second set losing 1-6 but made grand recovery to take the third set and the match 6-4. Having grabbed the first, Aisam was down to the bottom in the second set in which Frank played superbly well and won it to leave the issue open at 1-1. Frank's serve return was par excellence and he broke Aisam's serve thrice. Every stroke he hit turned into a winner and it seemed that he would roll over Aisam in the third set, too. But Aisam maintained his composure and played a very sensible game in the third set mixed rallies with volleys and sent more balls to the far corners of the opponent's court and made him sweat harder for the points. In the tenth game of the set at 5-4, Aisam hit two sizzling winner returns on Frank's serves to create an opening for himself and then went on to capitalize it by forcing errors on Frank and won the set. In earlier round Aisam defeated Albano Galan of Spain with A 6-1, 6-3 score. He will now face no. 3 seed Ivan Navarro Pastor of Spain who is also the highest ranked Spanish player of the tournament and due to home conditions advantage is the hot favourite over here. In the Doubles Aisam and partner Michael Ryderstedt of Sweden, defeated the no. 2 seeds Martin Stepanek and Igor Zelenay of Czech Republic in the quarter final 6-3, 7-5 and will face the 3rd seed pair of Paul Baccanello of Austria and his partner JJ Roger in semi final.● |
