Released Pakistani Amjad Hafeez reaches Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Amjad Hafeez, after getting release by Iraqi captors reached Pakistan Friday.

He was made hostage in Iraq on June 27 and later released after six days of detention.

On his arrival, Amjad Hafeez thanked the whole Pakistani nation and authorities for sharing the miseries of his family. He specially thanked President General Pervez Musharraf for making all out efforts for his release.

He also thanked electronic media which played its active role and highlighted his case in an effective manner.

“I have no words to express the sentiments after being released”, Amjad said adding he has got a new life.

Amjad Hafeez has been working in Kuwait for about last five years. At the time of kidnapping, he was performing duties to supply goods in Iraq carrying special badges.

These special badges made doubt in their (captors) mind about him that he was an American agent, Amjad added. Amjad Hafeez said, generally the Iraqis take people of Pakistan in high esteem.●
