Pakistan Times Kashmir Desk

SRINAGAR (Indian Held-Kashmir): In occupied Kashmir, the Junior doctors and the paramedical staff of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar and its associated hospitals continued their strike on the sixth day Wednesday in protest against the arrest of Dr Akram Hussain.

They held demonstrations in support of their demand for the release of the arrested doctor. The doctors have threatened to intensify their strike and lock out the hospitals and medical college.

"We regret the inconvenience caused to public due to the strike...we appeal to all the brothers and sisters to cooperate and help us in this odd hour and impress upon the puppet regime to release the doctor immediately", said a spokesman of junior doctors association.

Dentists to Join

The Srinagar Branch of the Dental Association is to join the striking junior doctors in Sriangar, if the arrested doctor is not released immediately.

The Association has threatened indefinite strike if the arrested registrar department of general surgery Dr Akram Hussain is not released immediately.

In a statement, the association while condemning Hussain's arrest by police warned that the dental doctors would also join the strike if the arrested doctor is not released instantly. The doctors will also go on hunger strike, the statement added.●
