HR Bureau activists on hunger
strike in Kashmir

SRINAGAR (Indian
Held-Kashmir): Dozens of APHC's Human Rights Bureau (HRB) activists are on a
hunger strike at Partap Park here to protest against the increase in human
rights violations by Indian army in occupied Kashmir.
Carrying banners and placards with slogans like "stop human rights
violations" and "healers turn violators", written on them the HRB activists
led by its chairman, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar started the hunger strike this
morning.
HRB plans to hold a peaceful rally on July 8 and march up to the U.N.
Observers Group Office in Srinagar to present a memorandum.
Strike to continue indefinitely: Doctors
Meanwhile, Junior doctors have reiterated that the indefinite strike
launched by them will continue till their colleague, Dr Akram is not
released by police.
Junior Doctors Federation president, Dr Nisar ul Hassan addressing a press
conference here said they will continue their fight till Dr Akram is
released. "Dr Akram is innocent and has nothing to do with the ongoing
struggle, he said adding that our indefinite strike will continue till he is
released. He said that we regret the inconveniences caused to people due to
our strike.
To lessen their miseries, we have set up a disaster management team which
will take care of all the disaster emergencies in case of any eventuality.
He also called on authorities to stop harassing students and doctors. He
demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Dr Akram and University
student, Majid Qadri arrested by the Indian army.●
