DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A
blast took place in Dera Ismail Khan, a city on the banks of
River Indus in the NWFP on Saturday morning killing one and
wounding four.
Nobody immediately claimed responsibility for the blast
outside the home of Ghani-ur-Rahman, the Commander of Frontier
Constabulary in Dera Ismail Khan, 300 kilometers [180 miles]
southwest of Pakistan's capital of Islamabad.
It was not immediately clear whether Rahman was at home when
the explosion occurred, but police said he was not among the
injured. ''I confirm that two security guards of
Ghani-ur-Rahman and a passerby were injured in the bomb
explosion,'' said a police official.
He said a man who died in
the blast was a clerk at a government office. He was crossing
the road outside Rahman's residence when the bomb detonated.
The city of Dera Ismail Khan, abbreviated as DI Khan is the
home town of the recently-nominated Leader of Opposition in
the National Assembly of Pakistan, religio-political alliance
MMA's Secretary General, Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
