14 Killed, 36 Injured: Bomb Hits Karachi Mosque

KARACHI: At least fourteen people were killed and 36 injured in a bomb blast inside Imambargah Ali Raza on M.A. Jinnah Road here on Monday evening.

According to details, at 1945 hours (local time), during Maghrib prayers, a bomb exploded inside Imambargah Ali Raza near Bundoo Khan Hotel at M.A.Jinnah Road here. As a result of blast so far 14 persons have died and 34 injured.

Whereas the authorities in Karachi have placed the number of causalities at 14 killed and 34 injured, foreign news networks have put the figure at 15 and some report 16 killed and 38 injured.

The Injured


The injured have been shifted to Civil, Jinnah, Aga Khan and Liaquat National Hospitals.

Infuriated Mob


After the bomb blast, infuriated mob gathered on various roads of Karachi and damaged public and private property, an official statement added.

It said the police and Rangers personnel are controlling the law and order situation.

The Dead Bodies


At least six bodies and 20 injured of bomb blast at Masjid Imam Ali Raza, M.A. Jinnah Road on Monday were brought to Civil Hospital, Karachi.

The blast occurred at Masjid Imam Ali Raza, Old Numaish when the faithfuls were performing Maghrib prayers.

According to Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital, Dr Raza Ali, the deceased were identified as Shoban (55), son of Jaffar Ali, Israr Ali (40), son of Soban Khan, Raheel (25), Zeeshan (47), child (12) and Pesh Imam of the Masjid, Maulana Mushtaq Ahmed.

The Injured


The injured were M. Raza (55), son of Qasim, Ghulam Ali (25), son of Sher Mohammad, Ejaz (25), son of Iftikhar, Akbar Hussain (28), M. Rafi, Hussain (20), son of Intizar, Hyder Ali (50), son of Muhammad Ali, Abid (18), son of Abdul Ghaffar, M. Raza (40), son of Muhammad Ali, Shahid (45), M. Abbas (14), son of Shiraz, Raees Abbas (20) Musrat, Zafar Iqbal (40), son of M. Naeem, M. Hussain (40), son of M. Jan, S. Rizwan Hussain, son of Iqbal Hussain, Own Ali (45), son of Yousaf Ali, M. Taqi (50), Mirza Ahmed Hussain (30), Zaman (35), Qaban Khan (49), son of Ruban Khan and M. Irfan, son of M. Iqbal.

The MS Civil Hospital told 'Pakistan Times' that all the injured were given
first aid, however their angry companions took them away to other hospitals of the city. They also took away bodies to other hospitals.

As many as 14 people have been killed and 34 others were injured in a bomb blast at Imambargah Ali Raza on M.A. Jinnah Road on Monday evening.

This was stated by the spokesman of the Karachi police on Monday night.

He said that the injured were taken to the Civil Hospital, Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre, Aga Khan University Hospital and Liaquat National Hospital.

The blast occurred at about 7.35 p.m. when the `Maghrib' prayers were being offered.

Doctor-on-Duty Says


A doctor at the Emergency Ward of the Liaquat National Hospital said that there were seven dead and 19 injured. He informed that the condition of most of them was serious.

Five bodies were brought to the Civil Hospital Karachi, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Raza Ali said.

Life gets Upset


According to police, after the bomb blast angry mob gathered on various roads of Karachi and damaged public and private property.

The flow of traffic also remained disturbed in various parts of the city.

Police and the Rangers personnel are controlling law and order situation.

Mid-Evening Version


At least thirteen worshipers, including a child, were killed and 29 reportedly injured when a powerful blast went off in Imambargah Ali Raza at M.A. Jinnah Road here on Monday evening.

The blast occurred when the victims were busy offering Mughrib prayers in the mosque.

The rescue operations started soon after the incident as a large number of ambulances were seen shuttling in between the several hospitals in the city and the site of the incident.

The victims were being rushed to Civil hospital, Jinnah and other hospitals of the city where emergency was declared.
