Multi-Purpose Sports Complex for Sialkot

SIALKOT: A “Multi-Purpose Sports Complex" would soon be constructed at village Kotli Mir Ali on Sialkot-Daska Road under the supervision of Sialkot District government for promoting the sports in the surrounding rural areas.

The international famed prominent commentator and Development Manager Cricket Board Asia, Zakir Hussain Syed and Sialkot District Nazim, Mian Naeem Javaid, Monday, signed an agreement to achieve the objective in minimal time-span.

Giving the details to newsmen, the District Nazim, Mian Naeem Javaid and Sialkot DCO Syed Tahir Raza Naqvi said that Zakir Hussain Syed has donated 10 acres of his native land on lease to Sialkot District government under an agreement for the construction of " Multi-Purpose Sports Complex".

Speaking on the occasion, Zakir Hussain Syed said that the federal government has allocated a special grant of Rs.40 million. He said that this project would be completed in a stipulated period of four years.

He said that in the first phase of this grand project an international standard Athletic Track, Squash courts, volley ball and basket ball grounds would also be constructed in the “Multi-Purpose Sports Complex" which would have 8000 seating capacity.

First phase would be completed in a period of 18 months with an estimated cost of Rs.40 million while a gymnasium would also be constructed there with a cost of Rs.29 million, he said by adding that the idea behind this grand project is to facilitate the people of rural areas by providing them the maximum sports opportunities for healthy activities to the eventual promotion of sports in the rural areas.

Zakir Hussain Syed said that it would be a model and international standard “Multi-Purpose Sports Complex".
