Pakistani Coach appeals to Imran to guide bowlers; No clue of Match Fixing
Pakistan Times Sports Desk

LAHORE: Pakistani Cricket Coach Javed Miandad has appealed to legend Imran Khan to extend help to correct the home bowlers.

"I request Imran to spare time and benefit our bowlers with his vast experience in bowling and his guidance can streamline their bowling which is sloppy during the ongoing series against India", he said here Tuesday.

Praising the skills and technique of Imran as a great bowler of his time, he said, his (Imran's) presence even for a short duration with the bowlers can improve them a lot in maintaining good line and length. "Even in one day session he can be a great help in correcting our bowlers who have not been able to maintain tidy line and length and conceded bulk of extra runs", he added.

Answering a question, he said that Pakistan Cricket Board is the supreme authority to take the decision of hiring a bowling coach. "If PCB would asks me to give my suggestions in this regard, definitely I will do so, but I cannot decide alone to have a bowling coach",he said.

Miandad said he has been assigned the task to mould the team in a winning combination and he was looking after all the aspects of the game and was satisfied with his hard work and devotion.

No clue of Match Fixing: PCB Chief

Meanwhile the Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board, Shaharyar M Khan, said that no clue of match fixing was found in the ongoing Pak-India one day series.

"I can say with full confidence that this series is being contested in a fair manner", he said in Lahore Tuesday ahead of the deciding fifth one-day international. He dismissed all such allegations and termed them baseless and said such negative propaganda can dilute the intensity of this historic event.

Reacting on a statement of Pakistan former captain, Rashid Latif that the fourth one day which India won by 5 wickets was fixed, he termed it rubbish and said it is not wise to come up with such a damaging statement without having a valid proof or evidence.

"Such tactics aims at demoralising not only the team but can tarnish the image of the country and the game", he said. "Until unless there is no evidence or a solid proof we cannot challenge the outcome of a match and if Rashid is true he must present evidence to substantiate his claim", he said.

He said PCB is framing a future line of action to deal with such baseless statements and said the matter of Latif's statement is being referred to PCB's legal department for necessary action.

PCB Chairman said in the past Pakistan suffered a lot due to such allegations and in general the image of the game was tainted and this practice must stop now.

PCB Chief said on the basis of mere observations of an individual (Latif) doubts cannot be raised on the outcome of a match unless the ICC Anti Corruption Unit mentioned such things in its report after the tour is over.
