MULTAN: An explosion at
a small fireworks factory in eastern Pakistan on Tuesday
killed one man injured five other people, police said.
The factory owner died instantly in the blast in Makwana, a
village about 350 kilometers (215 miles) northeast of Multan,
said police officer Rashid Tahir. Five workers were burned but
not seriously.
Police were investigating what caused the explosion. Accidents
are common at fireworks factories in Pakistan because of lax
safety.
Earlier this month, four people were killed at a factory set
up in a family home east of Multan, a major city in eastern
Punjab province.
