Benazir Reiterates One China Policy

DUBAI (United Arab Emirates): Pakistan's ex-Prime Minister and Chairperson of
Pakistan Peoples Party, Ms Benazir Bhutto has said that her party supports PRC in it's bid to promote national reconciliation between brothers in Taiwan and Mainland China without outside interference in the larger interest of peace and prosperity of the region and the world.

Via a statement, transmitted to 'Pakistan Times' Sunday, Ms Bhutto said; "Having noted with concern the pro independence referendum announced by Taiwan, Pakistan Peoples Party(PPP) backs the international opposition to the said referendum.

It reiterates it's One China policy. PPP pursues peaceful reunification of China as a cornerstone of it's China policy. Sovereignty of Peoples Republic of China (PRC) over Taiwan has been endorsed by the international community through the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation. China's commitment to peaceful settlement of the Taiwan issue through dialogue enjoys support of people around the globe, she added.

Ms Benazir Bhutto said; Pakistan Peoples Party considers the five principles of peaceful coexistence practised by PRC as the best guarantee for resolution of
political conflicts around the world including the Taiwan issue which Beijing considers it's internal problem.

Pakistan Peoples Party, she said, supports PRC in it's bid to promote national reconciliation between brothers in Taiwan and Mainland China without outside interference in the larger interest of peace and prosperity of the region and the world.
