ANF Seizes Heroin worth Millions
Pakistan Times Punjab Bureau Report

LAHORE: Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) claimed to have seized a record haul of 41 kg fine quality heroin, worth Rs 520 million in the international market, from a Nigerian carrier said to be a part of a foreign gang.

"This is the biggest haul we've made in Punjab," the Force Commander Brig Ashfaqur Rahman Khan told a news conference Friday.

Cell phone Adaptors

The contraband was cleverly concealed inside the cell phone adaptors recovered from the baggage of accused Muhammad Yemi, who was on his fifth trip to Pakistan, and was bound for Kano in northern Nigeria via Dubai.

The ANF acting caught the Nigerian just before he was to depart for Dubai on PIA flight PK-209 from the Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Other Items

The Nigerian was also carrying electronic goods like computers' mouse, cell phone jackets and covers, and a large quantity of digital telephones.

ANF personnel searched the luggage of all passengers leaving for Dubai and on suspicion carried out a detailed scrutiny of the suspect's baggage, from whom the heroin was ultimately recovered.

International Gang

The Nigerian, during interrogation admitted that he was member of an international gang which was smuggling drugs to different countries around the world.

The confiscated heroin was brought from Afghanistan amid Central Asia, of-late another favourite route of drug smugglers.
