LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples
Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Wednesday faced another setback after
its three sitting members in the Punjab Assembly resigned from
the provincial assembly and party as well.
The move came a day after PPP-P Parliament Zafar Iqbal Wariach
Tuesday stormed out from the National Assembly session after
tendering resignation from the NA seat and party.
Wariach before leaving the 342-member Lower House of
Parliament said he was quitting the Assembly and party
because, what he viewed as; 'of PPPP top brass’ lacklustre
policies to resolve the problems facing the masses'.
The quitting MPAs
Those who tendered resignations on Wednesday included Dr
Muhammad Afzal (PP-276), Chaudhry Shoaib Karim (PP-276) and
Sardar Khalid Mehmood (PP 269).
They announced their move at a press conference, which was
also attended by Zafar Iqbal Wariach, who seeds the tree of
revolt in exiled former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s party.
They handed over their resignations to District Nazim
Bhawalpur Chaudhry Tariq Bashir, who will transfer the same to
Speaker Punjab Assembly.
Benazir Reax
Benazir Bhutto has already accused the establishment of, what
she vowed as; 'being behind the rebellion in her party'.
Besides, 6 members of local assembly of Bhawalpur including
district Nazim also decided to quit the PPP-P indicating
deepening crises in the party, which ruled the country thrice.
Waraich's Resignation Accepted
'Pakistan Times' Federal Bureau adds: Speaker National
Assembly Chaudary Amir Hussain on Wednesday said that
resignation of Chaudary Zafar Iqbal Waraich as Member National
Assembly has been accepted.
The Speaker informed the House that after necessary procedures
the resignation tendered by the assembly member has been
accepted thus the National Assembly seat NA-196 has fallen
vacant.
Chaudary Zafar Iqbal from Rahim Yar Khan was elected to the
seat on PPPP ticket during the 2002 general elections. He has
tendered his resignation in
protest against, what he called the untoward behavior of the
party leadership
towards the party members and workers at the grassroots level.
'Ch. Zafar has set an unique example by stepping down from his
seat in the
Assembly to register his protest against the Party
leadership', view the pro-government circles.
