rehabilitation of families to be affected by the Mangla Dam
Raising project has been taken in hand by authorities for
instant implementation in a swift phased way.
Perspective
Ground breaking ceremony of this gigantic project was
performed by President General Pervez Musharraf in September
last. And a formal agreement on the project has recently been
signed between the Federal government and the government of
Azad Jammu Kashmir. Initial survey of the project has been
started.
Credible links told 'Pakistan Times' here Saturday that
the salient features of the attractive package of incentives
for the rehabilitation of the existing and upcoming affectees
hallmark a new fully-developed city exclusively to house the
affectees will edifice with a locale of soil with vast
terrain.
New City
The new city is proposed to be carved out on the site located
behind the existing housing Sector F-1 or at the Jari
Kass-Tariq Abad Road.
These two sites for surfacing the new city have already been
proposed by WAPDA and the AJK government, sources said by
adding that 'four small towns at Siakh, Dadayal, Chakswari and
Islamgarh have simultaneously been planned to facilities the
basic requires of the affectees as the foremost.'

Residential plots of five marlas in the ensuing new city and
towns will be allotted free of cost to the each family, be

Magnitude of Compensation

In Mirpur sub division, the population of the towns, situated
on the periphery of the Mangla dam reservoir including Palaak,
Paniayam, Arnu, Chakswari, Boha, Dhangri, Sangoat, Khaarik,
Chak Harayam and Islamgarh and in Dadayal Sub Division the
towns and villages of Unnah, Raie pur, Potha Sheir, and Siakh
located along the periphery of the Mangla lake would be
affected as a result of the implementation of the project.
