MMA to kick off public campaign in Pakistan against Govt Policies
By Atta ul Mohsin Syed - Pakistan Times Special Correspondent

ISLAMABAD: The supreme council of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) on Saturday announced that it would launch a massive public campaign and in this process initially all the political and religious parties would be approached to turn the MMA’s campaign into an effective and united move 'against the flawed policies of the government.'

Programme

Following a meeting of the supreme council of MMA in Islamabad, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and Qazi Hussain Ahmad talking to the journalists told that MMA would soon be embarking on a programme to contact all the political and religious parties and the leaders of MMA would be visiting Chak Darah, Bajaur, Warsak and other tribal areas where large public meetings will be addressed by them.

They claimed that the massive public campaign would gain momentum in the months of April and May when the leaders of MMA would begin addressing the District Bar Rooms all over the country and an Ulema-o-Mashaikh Convention in the offing.

National Consensus

Replying to a question, they said that to evolve a national consensus, another important meeting of the supreme council of MMA has been called on March 17.

The meeting also demanded the release of imprisoned leaders Allama Sajid Naqvi, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and Asif Ali Zardari, they told.

Maulana Fazlur Rahman urged the government to take MMA into confidence on vital matters of national importance.
