SIALKOT: At least four
children have died while the condition of thirteen others have
been reported critical due to measles epidemic in an adjscent
village, Baig Chak in Motra.
Amid this scenario, 'Pakistan Times' understands that
some of the families are contemplating to move to safer
vicinities for the safety of their kids.
The Baig Chak is located almost 7 km off the city of Daska, an
industrial hub, linking two significant origins of Pakistan's
exports, Sialkot and Gujranwala. Reports say that measles
spread in the village and its nearby locale almost 22 days
ago.
The Victims
Those who have, by now fell viction include Kalsoom (7),Usman
(2) Amir Sohail (2), Asif, an infant.
Zahid, Neelam and Allaha Ditta are alleged to be in a serious
condition because of the disease of measles.
The dwellers of the vicinity viewed with anguish that despite
the death of four children, no measure seems in the offing by
the health officials to cage the epidemic at-once. 'Its' an
apt time to set off a vaccination campaign for taking the
epidemic to an instant end', the inhabitants viewed with a
call to both the district as well as the provincial
authorities to take immediate cognizance of this situation,
lest it infects more harm to the precious lives.
One Gets Death Sentence for Murder
Meanwhile, District and Session Judge Sialkot, Badar-ul-Zaman
Chattha has awarded death sentence to accused Tahir Waseem in
a murder case of Police Station Rangpura with a fine of
Rs.100,000 to be paid the heirs of deceased as compensation.
The convict will have to undergo for six months in case of
non-payment of fine.
Giving benefit of doubt to accused Perveen Akhtar, the court acquitted her in
this case. Prosecution says that the accused shot dead Amir
Farooq on April 7 in 2002 over petty dispute.
