13 Killed, Several injured in Road Disasters in Pakistan

FAISALABAD: At least nine persons of a wedding party were killed while 11 sustained injuries when their wagon over turned after hitting the rear of a truck on the M-3 Motorway near Sahianwali, about 30 km from here in the wee hours of Saturday.

The ill-fateed vehicle was coming from Lahore.

Nine persons were killed on the spot while 11 were injured, who were later shifted to the Allied Hospital, hospital sources said.

The Dead

The dead were identified as Chamma, Malik Nazir, Shahid, Sheikh Nazir, Shakir, Ilyas Butt and three others.

A majority of the crash victims, killed and injured, hail from Anarkali bazar area, which remained closed today to mourn the tragic accident.

Three die in separate Accidents

'Pakistan Times' Sindh Bureau adds: Three motorcyclists were killed in two road accidents in Nawabshah.

In one accident two motorcyclists Syed Imdad alias Raja Shah and Aktam Barhamani were killed when a speeding car collided with their motorcycle in front of Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering Science and Technology.

In another accident between a truck and motorcycle, one Shoukat was killed on the spot.

Woman Killed in Road Accident

And a story, filed by our Federal Bureau says: A woman expired in a road accident on Islamabad Highway Saturday.

An old lady, Raheem Jan (70), was hit by a speeding passenger van (JMC-3125) near Zia Mosque on Islamabad Highway resulting in her on the spot death. The driver escaped after leaving the vehicle.
