NADRA Plans Swift Centres in UK, Old Manual ID Cards Invalidated

MIRPUR (Azad Kashmir): NADRA is contemplates to establish its Swift Centers in all Pakistani Consulates located in various cities in United Kingdom in the near future.

The main object of such a course is to facilitate quick delivery of the computerized National Identity Cards to the needy Britain-based Pakistani expatriates including those hailing from Azad Jammu Kashmir.

'Pakistan Times' understands that NADRA chief is almost close to the finalization of steps related to swift delivery of the computerized national identity cards to the overseas Pakistanis including those inhibiting in the United Kingdom.

This process shall be carried out via a phased program on the special directives of the President Pervez Musharraf aimed at redressing the grievances of the overseas Pakistanis on diverse facets including the issuance of National ID cards to the legible.

By now NADRA has established almost 166 Swift Centers all over Pakistan including Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Old Manual ID cards Invalidated

Rezvan Malick, Staff Reporter of 'Pakistan Times' adds: An official communiqué by Pakistan's Ministry of Interior on Saturday announced that the old manual identity cards have become invalid but National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will continue to issue Computerized National Identity Cards, CNIC.

The new cards would be a pre-requisite for all basic facilities like electricity, telephone connection, bank account and passport in Pakistan.

Director General NADRA {North], Col Shaukat Raza Butt told 'Pakistan Times' in Islamabad Saturday that on the directives of the government, NADRA has made elaborate arrangements to entertain applications promptly and has capacity to print 100,000 cards per day.

NADRA's North Zone chief made it clear that it [NADRA] will neither charge any extra fee nor levy any penalty for issuance of new identity card.
