ISLAMABAD:
Most of the members of American Business Council of Pakistan
have indicated planning investments in Pakistan, recognizing
improvement in business climate, domestic economy and overall
prospects, according to the Council's Annual Report 2002-03.
According to the
latest informal business survey conducted among members of the
American Business Council of Pakistan, 59 percent of its
responding members indicated planning investments in Pakistan,
85 percent indicated improvement in Pakistan's overall
prospects and 73 percent indicated improvement in domestic
economy as against 40 percent in the previous survey.
Further, 83
percent of the respondents reported increase in their gross
revenues in rupees while 78 percent in US $ terms. 75 percent
of the respondents indicated increase in their pre-tax profits
and 68 percent mentioned that the government was positively
impacting business.
70 percent of the
respondents indicated more consistent policies while 63
percent observed some improvement in implementation of
policies by the government. 95 percent of the respondents
indicated that the ABC's suggestions were partly incorporated
by the government during the past year.
On the basis of
their dealings, most of the members indicated that the working
of the government departments had generally improved.
