Mulla Omar vows to expel US-led Marines from Afghanistan
Pakistan Times Monitoring Desk

PESHAWAR: Vowing to continue fighting until the expulsion of the US-led forces from Afghanistan, Taliban leader Mulla Omar has rejected the ongoing electoral process, draft of the new constitution, and the forthcoming Loya Jirga.

English daily 'The News International' reports that "a hard-hitting statement faxed to its Peshawar Bureau on Sunday by the Taliban Islamic Movement spokesman Hamid Agha, Omar alleged the Jews and Christians were focusing on the Loya Jirga, constitution and elections to find an excuse to prolong stay of their military in Afghanistan". "This is part of the Crusades to deprive Muslim nations of their sovereignty," he stressed.

Agha was named the official Taliban spokesman a couple of months ago. He has been claiming that he operates out of Afghanistan. Agha mentioned in his fax message that Omar had issued his latest statement to coincide with Eidul Fitr.

Sends Eid Greetings

Omar also sent Eid greetings to all Muslims and pledged to the Afghan people that they won’t find him and the Taliban wanting while resisting foreign occupation. "Rest assured, my true Muslim people, that the Taliban were filled with the spirit of Jihad and martyrdom and would turn the earth red with the blood of the invaders and make them spend sleepless nights. Every day, the foreign aggressors are suffering losses of men and material due to the murderous assaults by our proud and brave Taliban," declared Omar in his statement.

He argued that "the young Taliban were offering sacrifices, suffering imprisonment in the Guantanamo prison, and undergoing trials and tribulations so that their Afghan nation could hold its head high and reclaim its honour, respect, freedom, sovereignty and Islamic way of life". He reminded that the Taliban earlier gave sacrifices in the Shibergan jail and were now leading a tough life in their mountain redoubts while fighting a guerrilla war.

The Taliban leader questioned the achievements of the US-sponsored regime in Afghanistan during its two-year existence and asked where were the promised democracy, security, independence, human rights and reconstruction.

"So-called democracy has been gifted to our Mujahid nation in the form of killings, bombings, demolition of houses and promotion of un-Islamic practices and obscenity. Our enemies want to weaken Islam by attacking the morals of Muslims, they are keen to tackle jihad under the pretext of fighting terrorism, and their goal to take control of the assets of Islamic countries," he contended.
