LAHORE: President
General Pervez Musharraf has directed that Azadi Chowk, GPO
and FC College underpasses should also be completed within a
period of three months each, however, the Lahore Ring Road
project be given priority.
The President along with Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi paid
a surprise visit Sunday to different development projects in
the provincial metropolis and directed the CM to conduct
frequent surprise visits to other development schemes in
Lahore also as he had done during the construction of The Mall
Road underpass which resulted in its completion a day before
the stipulated period.
He also directed that
development schemes throughout the province should be executed
by taking personal interest. It may be mentioned that the
president arrived in the provincial metropolis on Saturday
night and in the afternoon, during telephonic conversation
with the chief minister, expressed his desire to visit The
Mall underpass as well as other development schemes in the
city.
The CM also summoned Secretary C&W Sibtain Fazle Haleem on
telephone at the underpass. The CM said that due to security
reasons, he would call the secretary C&W to the President’s
car, who deserved congratulations for the timely completion of
this project.
The President said that security was no problem. He then got
off the car and commended the performance of the relevant
officials and staff for the timely completion of the project.
Later, the president and the chief minister proceeded to the
site of FC College underpass and reviewed the preparations for
the initiation of construction work at this project after Eid.
