KARACHI: Tapal CC made
their way into the final of the 18th Karachi Gymkhana AG
Zurich Habib Bank Ramazan Cricket Festival by beating Sindh
police here on Sunday at KG Ground.
Batting first Tapal CC
started their innings sensibly and accumulated 241 for 4 in 25
overs. Atiquz Zaman (66), Saeed bin Nasir (55), Hasan Arshad
(33), Hanifur Rehman (28) and Jaffer Qureshi (26) played well.
Iftiqhar Ali, Akif Alvi,
Turab Hussain and Ahmed Iqbal got one wicket each for Sindh
Police. In reply Sindh Police compiled 217 runs for 8 in 25
overs.
Arif Mehmood with a blazing
knock of 115 led the onslaught for his but his efforts went in
vain as only Khalid Lateef (48) could resist the opposition
and the rest of the batting collapsed.
Shahid Iqbal (4 for 39)
bowled superbly and played crucial role in his team’s win.
Hanifur Rehman, Jafar Qureshi, Iqbal Shaikh and Hasan Arshad
got one wicket each. Later Sindh Police’s Arif Mehmood was
awarded Man of the Match for his remarkable ton.
