ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's
apex leadership Friday reviewed—in-depth—the points of the
package, suggested by India vis-à-vis the current scenario in
South Asia—amid explicit spotlight on irritants with Kashmir
Issue atop—obstructing good ties—between the two
nuke-neighbours.
Credible links told Pakistan Times—late on Friday night
that President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir
Zafarullah Khan Jamali, who met at the Prime Minister's House
Friday, discussed matters relating to various international
and regional issues with special focus on the recent package
offered by India.
The meeting also reviewed the regional and international
situation and various other important issues.
The meeting was held after the Iftar-dinner hosted by the
Prime Minster in the honour of the President. It was attended
among others by Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri,
President Azad Kashmir, Sardar Muhammad Anwar Khan and Foreign
Secretary Riaz Hussain Khokhar.
Principled Stand on Kashmir
The President and the Prime Minister reiterated the country's
principled stand to continue its political, moral and
diplomatic support for Kashmir is just struggle for the
achievement of their right to self-determination.
Both the leaders paid rich tributes to the Kashmiris who made
historic sacrifices for freedom. They also expressed the view
that no amount of state terrorism and persecution could
extinguish the fire of freedom burning in the hearts of
Kashmiris.
They urged that the leadership of both the countries should
hold meaningful dialogue to resolve all outstanding issues
including Kashmir.
They hoped that the Indian Prime Minister would attend the
forthcoming SAARC summit scheduled for early next year, as it
would provide an occasion for both the countries to resolve
their differences.
The two leaders also
expressed the resolve to eradicate the scourge of terrorism in
all its forms and manifestations.
Musharraf, Jamali condemn Istanbul bombings
President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir
Zafarullah Khan Jamali Friday condemned terrorist attacks in
Turkey and termed them as ‘worst example of barbarism’.
Both the leaders expressed their heartiest grief and sorrow
over the loss of precious innocent human lives.
President Pervez Musharraf, in a message to his Turkish
counterpart said: “We are with our Turkish brethren in this
critical moment.” “I would like to extend my heartiest
condolence to the bereaved families,” he added.
PM Condoles with Turkish Envoy
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, in a
meeting with Turkish Ambassador, also condoled the loss of
lives and properties in Turkey and expressed his government’s
full support to the Turkish Government and people.
He said that the government and people of Pakistan are deeply
grieved on the incident and they fully share the grief of
their Turkish brethren.
